Unseen Mistakes

I’m sorry for the times I failed
To see the hurt behind your eyes,
For words I spoke and then curtailed,
For silent wounds and hidden cries.
I never meant to cause you pain,
Or let my actions lead astray,
Sometimes my heart can’t quite explain
The things I do,
the words I say.
I walk the path of good intent,
Yet stumble blindly,
unaware
Regret arrives when time is spent,
And I am left with heavy care.
If I could turn the moments back,
And see with wisdom,
clear and true,
I’d mend the bridges that now crack,
And offer gentler words to you.
Please know I never meant to harm,
My faults were shadows,
not my will
I long to heal,
to bring you calm,
To learn,
to listen, and be still.
Forgive me for the wrong I’ve done,
For all I missed or did not see
I’m growing, changing,
one by one,
And hope you’ll still believe in me.
