The Overbearing Apology

In the shadows of my tension,
where I thought I meant well,
I wrapped my love in shackles but forgot to let you swell.
With my voice another thunder,
caged within my will,
I thought I lent you strength,
yet only bent your thrill.
I mistook your silence for surrender and your frown for fear,
In my quest to be your savior,
I veered from my own sphere.
Forgive me for my blindness, for my tempest in a teacup,
I see it now the very bond
I swore to build was torn down,
a slip-up.
