Lay me down

As the prayer goes,

Now I lay me down to sleep.

I pray the Lord my soul to keep,

Man oh man does that hit deep.

But as I lay here,

Listening to the sound of the wind outside,

I can hear the birds chirp.

As I think of the prayer more,

I wonder most.

Wonder where I would be right now,

if I had done what my mind was set on.

Trust in God,

Believe in him,

I will come out stronger.

In time things will get better,

As my will to live on has strength.

As I said in the beginning,

Now I lay me down to sleep.

Please God,

I pray my soul to keep.

Still hits deep.
