For Yacko, With Love

A whisper of wings,
so small,
so bright,
You filled our days with songs and light.
Perched high upon your favorite swing,
You brought us joy in everything.
Your feathers danced in shades so fine,
A spark of sky,
a hint of shine.
With chirps that rang like morning sun,
Each note a sign the day’s begun.
But now the cage hangs still and bare,
No fluttered hush,
no voice in air.
The silence echoes what we've lost
A tiny soul, now gently tossed
Upon the winds that birds must ride,
Beyond our reach,
but not our side.
For though you're gone,
your spirit stays
In quiet nights and golden days.
We’ll miss the way you called our name,
The way you played your clever games.
A friend so small,
a heart so wide,
You’ll fly forever by our side.
So rest,
dear Yacko,
soft and free,
In skies where souls and angels be.
We’ll hold you close,
our feathered friend,
In love that never finds an end.
