Betrayal and Loss

In the whispering echoes of laughter shared,
A friend's smile masked the shadows unprepared.
Promises lingered like sweet summer air,
Yet deceit lay lurking, unaware it would tear.
The moments we cherished now daggered with fears,
What once brought us joy now draws forth the tears.
An unspoken rift grew wide and deep,
In a silence that shattered the trust we would keep.
With every word spoken, the dagger went deeper,
A breach in the bond, once steadfast, now a keeper
Of secrets forgotten under false light,
What once felt so right has turned into a fight.
Regrets dance around in the corners of the mind,
Memories tainted, once vibrant and kind.
The laughter that echoed is a haunting refrain,
A reminder of friendship turned bitter with pain.
Like leaves in the autumn, the memories fall,
Each whisper of trust now a haunting call.
The bond that we forged, now severed and lost,
An irreplaceable friendship, a terrible cost.
Yet amidst all the hurt, a lesson remains,
To tread carefully, though friendship contains
Such warmth and joy but can also betray,
A reminder to guard what we give away.
