A Curse Broken in Orange And Blue
At last the lights on Broadway gleam,
The Garden roars like a long-held dream,
Banners rise where doubts once stood
The New York Knicks are champions,
bold and good.
Years of waiting,
years of pain,
Of almosts,
heartbreak,
hope in vain,
But tonight the echoes finally stick
This city sings: We did it, Knicks.
From cracked sidewalks to skyline highs,
From old ghosts laid to rest tonight,
A whisper spread through locker rooms
A curse undone by strange cartoons.
Enter the grin,
the jar of teeth,
Very nice,
very evil beneath,
With comic spells and a wink that lands
Thank you,
Danhausen,
cursed no more by your hands.
Confetti falls like snow in June,
Orange and blue beneath the moon,
The drought is done,
the past dismissed
A city healed with one last hiss.
So raise the cup,
let legends ring,
For faith,
for fight,
for everything
The Knicks stand tall,
the night’s a win,
Very nice.
Very evil.
Amen.
