Walking in My Shoes

I wish you knew the weight I carry,

The burdens tucked beneath a smile,

Where laughter dances, yet shadows tarry,

And hope feels fragile, just for a while.

In the silence of rooms, I often linger,

As echoes of doubt begin to swell,

A heart once bright, now loses its singer,

In the stories untold, I know too well.

I walk on paths where questions loom,

Where every step feels heavy, unsure,

In crowded spaces, I search for a room,

A haven for hearts that yearn for the pure.

The world I see is often gray,

Painted with hues of struggle and strife,

Where kindness feels lost in the fray,

And vulnerability is a tightrope of life.

I wish you'd feel the fear I hide,

The tremors that quake, the nights drenched in tears,

For every smile is a cloak, a guide,

Hoping to mask the weight of my fears.

Yet through the cracks, sometimes, light seeps,

Illuminating the roads we can't trace,

For in our journeys, each one leaps,

Towards compassion, towards a warm embrace.

So take a step, just once in my shoes,

Feel the contours of this heavy load,

Understand the whispers and the silent blues,

And maybe we’ll lighten each other’s road.
